Most RCM Analyses Have Gaps. Here's Why That's Costly.

Incorrect task selection

Choosing time-based tasks where condition monitoring is warranted — or vice versa — wastes maintenance budget and leaves failure modes unmanaged. This is the most common gap found in independent reviews.

Poor function and failure mode definition

Vague function statements and poorly scoped failure modes undermine every downstream decision in the analysis. A quality review checks these foundations before you build on them.

Non-compliant with JA1011 / JA1012

Many analyses called 'RCM' do not satisfy the SAE standard criteria. If your study is ever audited — by a regulator, client, or insurer — non-compliance is a serious liability.

The Compliance Index is a 0–100 score calculated across 8 dimensions of RCM quality, based on our proprietary Rulebook v2.8 methodology. It gives you a clear, quantifiable measure of how well your analysis aligns with SAE JA1011 and JA1012 — and a benchmark to improve against.

Our findings are always accompanied by clear reasoning and referenced to the relevant JA1011/JA1012 criteria. If you wish to discuss a finding, we offer a 20-minute debrief call included in all Standard Review and above packages. Good RCM is a collegial process — we welcome the discussion.
